Triggers of Atrial Fibrillation (AF/ A-Fib) vary from individual to individual but most commonly include hypoglycaemia, surgery, chronic infections, stress, alcohol abuse specifically binge drinking, nicotine, caffeine (tea, coffee, cola and some energy drinks), allergic reactions, eating certain foods such as cheese, red wine, yogurt, bananas and chocolate etc. AF/ A-Fib triggers also include greasy food, spicy food, serious electrolyte imbalance, anti-arrhythmic drugs, hot and cold temperatures, flying, exercising and even hot baths!
