My name is Nicholas Wilkinson. I’m a author and medical professional living in Phoenix, Arizona, I’m married to my best friend, and I have one beautiful daughter who is the light of my life and reason for existing. One day I started writing, at first not for any reason but just to get my thoughts out on paper, but as I continued to write the goal became clear. I was writing a journal about how obesity and Type 2 Diabetes was changing my life. I consider myself a regular and average person, a normal guy who is now living a less than normal life.

From Here To Obesity is a comedic and often brutally honest look inside my life and struggles with diabetes, obesity and overeating. My attempt at humor, I feel, is a reflection of my desire to give a voice to people like me. Click here for more

On October 1st 2011 Denmark introduced what has been described as a Fat Tax.

This is a tax imposed on foods that are high in saturated fat? This includes batter, milk and many processed foods.

There have been calls for other countries for following Denmark’s example. The UK’s Guardian newspaper quoted National Obesity Forum’s Tam Fry as saying “It is not a question of whether we should follow the Danes’ lead – we have to. If we don’t do anything about it, by 2050, 70% of the British population will be obese or overweight and that would result not only in the downfall of the NHS but also of our national workforce.” Click here for more

Recent research shows that not only are female* Type 1 Diabetics at twice the risk of developing
Anorexia or Bulimia, but also as many as 40% of 15 – 30 year olds regularly omit insulin. This practice can have devastating consequences such as organ failure, infertility, blindness, and in the
worst cases death. Despite the horrific complications and staggering prevalence, Deliberate Insulin Manipulation/Omission or ‘Diabulimia’ as the press have named it, is not diagnosable and there are no current guidelines for the NHS in the UK on how to deal with the issue. Click here for more
