Medicalinsider.com – a web site for people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
The Patient Experience would like to welcome you to a new blog introducing a patient information website called Medicalinsider.com which provides information to people who suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and/or Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) from Pat Askert. Medicalinsider.com is a rebrand of his old site Health Spy.
Medicalinsider.com is a non-profit information resource for sufferers of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS or CFIDS), covering causes and treatments. Its purpose is to increase the level of awareness of the issues involved in CFS, for patients as well as carers and practitioners; to help patients to get a basic understanding of their individual conditions, as well as giving them pointers to general areas that they may wish to have looked into, and also how to find the right specialist or treatment. Pat has found that it is best to take a proactive approach to one’s health and learning about one’s health, and working together with health practitioners and providing them with valuable feedback, rather than just being a passive patient.
Topics include diet, nutrition, digestion, hormone and neurotransmitter imbalances, mitochondrial dysfunction, cardiac problems, free radical proliferation, liver and kidney function, toxicity (especially heavy metal toxicity), structural problems as well as stress management. The information is intended to educate and also inspire further study.
Because of the nature of some of the root causes of CFS, it is also applicable to a variety of other multi-system illnesses such as Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome, M.E. and Fibromyalgia, as well as anyone interested in sports nutrition or general looking to generally improve their health, digestion or energy and concentration levels.
Pat Askert is the sole Writer and Editor of Medicalinsider.com. The site has been on line since 2006 and has a diverse, international readership. He had been suffered from sub-optimal immune function and energy levels for much of his youth, and in his late teens suffered from Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome and severe digestive complaints. He eventually came down with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and explored many types of alternative treatments and eventually was introduced by a friend to a book on CFS which greatly accelerated his learning on the subject. Shortly thereafter, having written a few blogs and emails on the subject, decided to create a web site to share his findings, having found few internet resources that covered all the areas he believed were pertinent in CFS. Pat’s background is in technical sales, in telecoms and later in the environmental sector, and is currently taking a sabbatical from work. Medicalinsider.com has always been a part time hobby.
